Just an opinion: The only way all these companies can succeed is if they all use a universal charger. If they go by their own, there is bound to be competition all over and Tesla will most likely come at top due to their already massive network and probably even more as it gets more competitive. I think companies should just work on the cars and improving them as whole. While, creating this new industry of business, where instead of gas stations, there are battery stations for electric cars all around the country and the world for all consumers. However it’s not as simple as I put it, the cost of the chargers depends and as new technology comes in, people would want better and faster charging , which will need for the old to be thrown and new to be installed in the battery stations

How do you compare EV charging- Power or Range added. Tesla wins in the practical range added part of charging. Porsche wins in the useless power part of charging

Marques, you haven't heard for multi-gear gearbox in EV because you do not follow them actually. This is Rimac technology, Porsche purchased a big stake in Rimac and that's how they built a good part of this car.

It's ridiculous to compare a $105k Tesla with a $185k Porche. It is just comparing apples to avocados. It is a waste of time. Let's keep waiting for the big auto companies to bring a really competitive vehicle to fight against Tesla, but the Taycan it is not that car.

Erm. Why don't you to a follow up to this now, since the Taycan Turbo S has thrashed the Tesla Model S Performance Raven, etc., all over the world. You were warned early Porsche's usually conservative about their performance numbers (and now consumption), and they were with this one as well. The top Tesla Model S's has lost about 8 races in a row from 0-60 through the quarter mile, 150+ mph, and everything in between to the Taycan. Of course the Porsche has proven to handle way better, with an even better ride than the Tesla Model S. And (gasp) despite all those performance; handling and luxury advantages. The Taycan, has proven to get similar mileage in the Real World, and H2H test against similar or the equivalent Tesla. And it charges faster to boot. So we know who has the most advanced electric sedan on the market, and it's not Tesla. It's the Porsche Taycan. We look forward to the follow up.

You can't really compare a car not far from twice as expensive with another one claiming it's better. The price of this Porsche is closer to that of the Tesla roadster 2020 which beats the Porsche by far in almost every way and has more than DOUBLE the range.

To be fair, Tesla made the Model S back in 2012 and not with as much of a budget and experience as Porsche which is almost a hundred years old and has more models than Tesla. Even then Porsche is still losing the race. Which is why I think Tesla has already won this battle

I see this mistake everywhere but I'll just comment it here. 60mph don't equal 100km/h. 62.14 mph equal 100km/h. That's why when Porsche or any other manufacturer reports a 0-100 time it is not really comparable to a 0-60 time

I would buy the but the taycan because i think that tesla's design is generic, bland and blown up meanwhile the porsche taycan's design is beutiful, elegant and sleek. The interior of the tesla is just bland and too modern. The porsche's interior is luxourius and classy. And now from the reviews i've seen The porsche taycan is as fun as driving a 911 and it even has rear wheel drive mode meanwhile the tesla's only sporty traits seem to be the instant exceleration and its souly a luxury cruiser.

Tesla: an unrefined car, with great range and good for daily driving from a point to another point. Porsche: a beautiful, gorgeous car, full of Lucy and great build quality, 2x the price of the Tesla but worth every penny. A Porsche isn't a car you buy to get from point A to point B, a Porsche is a car you buy to get to point A to point B in luxury, style and fast!

@Appaches - No they're not. You get what you pay for. German cars are a lot more expensive on average than American cars. But if you buy each car, in the same price point, the American car will be every bit the quality of the German car. And in most cases the American car will be better (price to performance for what you get for your money). No one (including myself) isn't saying that German cars aren't good. They are quite good. But you will pay the price also (a lot more on average, unless you're buying a Volkswagon or something). But Teslas are definitely as good or better quality than any German car. And I would rather have a Model S P100D than a Taycan. You could almost buy two Teslas for the price of the Taycan.

Only, the Tesla isn't really 2,4 seconds to 60 since they add a one foot rollout, so basically it's around 6-60 mph. Porsche _always_ undercuts performance figures and when they say 0. They mean ZERO.

    • Thorstein Klingenberg

      Thorstein Klingenberg

      Prieš mėn

@Miguel lopez Americans can't count, everyone knows that. Even NASA figured it out and smartly moved to metric. Tesla still measures their P cars from 6-60 mph, and call it 0-60. So no one in Europe takes EPA seriously. We have WLTP which is accurate with what real life use of the Taycan reflects. Porsche accepts that EPA is wrong and let them be. Porsche has decades behind it where they understate their cars performance, and the Taycan is no different. Porsche knows that the Taycan will sell because it's an amazing car, not because of its rated range, and when customers discover that they easily reach more than the rated range they're an even happier customer. I've driven the Taycan Turbo S on track and on roads. But a keyboard hero probably knows best 😂

    • Miguel lopez

      Miguel lopez

      Prieš mėn

@Thorstein Klingenberg yep facts from a testing organization (one even Europeans say is more accurate then WLTP) and Porsche also agreed with the results is definitely less factual then what you read online, are you alright?

Reposting a response I made on another comment about making sure charging stations are compatible: Yea, just imagine if every gas car had its own brand of gas stations that all use the same type of gas, but meant that your car would only be compatible with its own brand of gas station and nobody else's. That would have been a mess and severely slowed down the adoption of gas cars but luckily that didn't happen, and hopefully the same will be said for electric cars.

Tesla is now forced to up its quality game. Granted Porsche is on crack with the pricing. This isn't exactly Model S competition but with Mercedes EQC & Audi E Tron out, Tesla needs to raise its dependability & build quality game - knees to chest in 3, paint, gaps, dents, etc. Furthermore, someone needs to explain to Elon the difference in minimalist DESIGN.... and lacking actual amenities. He imposes too much of his personal taste into cars for the public. Just cuz *I* like the color dark brown doesn't mean I'm going to make all my cars dark brown.
